Active and key participant in the planning, design, development, launch, and maintenance of affiliate marketing applications that support the company’s business model, goals, and objectives. Serve as a subject-matter expert and team leader during the design, testing, and introduction of new applications.
Spearheaded the initiative to evolve the company’s aging SmallTalk claims processing application to a modern (at that time) Java architecture backed by an ORM using the Oracle database.
Provided technical direction and hands-on programming to deliver customized POS and B2B solutions for business clients across various industries, from retailers to healthcare providers and banks. My responsibilities included scoping technical requirements for client engagements, architecting solutions from databases to front-end UI, leading development efforts across multiple teams, overseeing coding standards/reviews, liaising between stakeholders, and guiding software design adjustments based on evolving needs.
As Software Engineer at CIBC Mellon, I was part of the team responsible for developing and enhancing the bank's corporate banking platform servicing institutional investors. My core contributions involved building new features for clients to manage their portfolios of investments in equities, fixed income assets, and derivatives.
Beyond staying on top of the latest web frameworks and honing my development skills, I have a wide range of interests that contribute to my creativity and approach to problem-solving. I'm an avid reader of both non-fiction across topics like history, science, and personal growth, as well as sci-fi and fantasy fiction as a way to spark my imagination. Fitness is also on my activities list I enjoy doing. I compete in 5K races in the summer and have completed two marathons. When time allows, few things beat getting away on a solo backpacking trip to experience beautiful natural settings and gain some perspective.
I balance the solitary pursuits with social ones. Watching European soccer with friends, trying new ethnic restaurants around town, going to comedy shows and indie concerts, or planning intercontinental trips. The variety of professional and personal interests all provide input into creative problem-solving.
